    My 3 expert tips:

    We’ve all been told disease begins in the gut.

    That’s true, but maybe not for the reasons we have been taught. Disease is a 3-step process (or cascade) that impacts the gut first. Here’s how it works:

    Step 1: Stress

    We tend to dismiss stress like a pesky fly. It’s unpleasant and annoying, but in the scheme of things not very destructive (or so we think).

    It turns out that over 80% of doctor visits are due to stress, so maybe stress is something we should start taking seriously.

    Saying “it’s just stress” is like living in a house at the edge of the woods with a raging forest fire heading right to you and there is no water in sight. You would never say, “it’s just a raging forest fire,” right? NO!
    It’s a frickin raging forest fire that is going to burn your house to the ground if you don’t do something!

    This is serious!

    Stress is the match that starts the fire that burns everything to the ground.

    When we experience stress, we burn through magnesium and disrupt our gut microorganisms which leads to poor absorption of nutrients, cravings for foods that lack nutrients, and even mood changes.
    The gut takes the brunt of our stress and then impacts the rest of the body.

    Step 2: Mineral Imbalance

    We are stressed and magnesium depleted at this point which means other minerals are now going to be out of balance, specifically copper and iron.

    Copper, in the mitochondria, turns oxygen into energy and it keeps iron circulating in the blood where we want it.

    Without copper, iron gets stuck in our tissues where we can’t see it. Our blood might indicate we are deficient in iron, but the truth is, we have plenty of iron, it’s just stuck in a place where we can’t use it and where it causes oxidative damage and inflammation.

    It is mineral imbalance that causes us to experience symptoms.

    Step 3: Emotions/beliefs

    When we experience trauma or other stressful events or circumstances, we have thoughts and emotions about those events and circumstances. Sometimes we pick up subconscious beliefs we aren’t even aware of.

    Our emotions and beliefs impact where symptoms show up in the body.

    This is why we have so many different diseases. We don’t all express mineral imbalance (symptoms) in the same way or in the same organs.

    If you’ve suffered from chronic health issues, tried “all the things” and nothing seems to work, it’s probably because you aren’t addressing your stress, mineral imbalance, or emotions/beliefs. You must address all three to heal properly.

    Admittedly, this is a lot easier said than done and it will require some effort on your part. Healing is not a passive process or something you can pay someone else to do for you.
