HI All- I am so excited to be a part of the group. I found that peer reviews, suggestions and input can be priceless.
Here is what I have come up with after listening to last weeks lesson and being a part of today’s.

To grow more in love with yourself

During our meeting to discuss details of her photo shoot my client shared that her husband had died just months before. She had been part of his nursing care for years. She was a young vibrant woman in a loving relationship and now a widow. I had been dealing with all sorts of issues with my dad’s progression of Alzheimers and wasn’t ready to deal with another persons grief. I showed up to our session in my professional photographer role and was prepared to lead talk around planning to create a fun, empowering adventure photo shoot that would showcase her personality and Beauty within. Not to dig into how her grief was affecting the way she viewed herself, her body, her confidence in being enough and her future.

So I listened, I empathized, I asked questions and was curious about her desires. I set the usual check list aside and sat with her in her moments as she talked and grew teary eyed (I did as well). She was looking at figuring out who she was going to become as she was longer a wife, daughter in law, care giver to a dyeing lover and was looking forward to what her role and identity in the world was. This photo shoot was a starting point on her reset, re emergence as a person ready to find and define herself for the next chapter.

We explored what that could look like for her. What interests, clothing looks and emotions resonated with her. And we designed a plan for how her photo shoot would capture images that would bring her joy, make her feel refreshed, gorgeous, brave and encouraged in her new beginnings.

What would you want your photo shoot to include? Is there a theme you like? An outfit that is the bomb? A fantasy look that you want to explore? Reply to this email and share with me. I love to hear and explore all of your ideas.

    With Love, Sparkles and dancing,
    Kathy

PS- That client posted on her social a few months ago about her joy in creating the next chapters of her life, a job she adores in a new area she loves living in and her upcoming wedding plans.

    • Really like the subject line, often we shy away from pain. And the story is wonderful. The line that the photo shoot was her reset point really resonated with me. For the first line of the email, perhaps look at how to make the first sentence more about the emotion than the fact that you had a meeting. Shooting in the dark but something like I was ready like any other meeting to discuss the details of the photoshoot, until my client shared that her husband died a few months ago. This was not going to be an ordinary meeting. [How did you react or feel about that?]

    • Can you tie this back to the story? These questions are all very vague (but I do want to say… a good start) I know you can bring this together.
