Hi All! Looking for feedback on my recent post. I teach mindfulness to school-age kids and stress reduction to teachers. Often, people put my work in the category of yoga, so I took this nitty-gritty detail and wrote a post on it today for LinkedIn. Any feedback will be helpful. Thanks!

For music students who are tired of “starting over” after holiday breaks:
It’s not easy to keep up your chops when on break.
But if you don’t want to backslide, SOMETHING needs to happen. These are things my students tell me:

I would say what is. “It’s not easy to keep up your chops when on break.” = “It is usually hard for students to keep up with practice during break because their routine is disrupted”

Nitty Gritty Details post. This is a first draft. Does it flow?
Here’s a major reason why your personal brand photos aren’t bringing in new clients.
You’re not defining your unique brand-essence (simply, your singular way of showing up in service of your clients) to guide your photo shoot.
A “show up and shoot” approach to brand…Read More

For me, a hook would be : “A “show up and shoot” approach to brand photography is inadequate to produce photos that connect with clients.” Having had at least 3 brand photoshoots already, this sentence would stop me in my tracks and I would like to keep reading.
-
Oooooh! Thanks, Mariela! That’s a big help! Since you’ve had a number of photo shoots yourself, I’d love to hear your experience – what you were after, frustrations, what succeeded and what didn’t, etc.

That would be a very long reply here. Would you like to meet for a quick virtual coffee? Email me at mariela@soulbusinessdesign.com. We can even be referral partners. Most of my clients need brand images before we create the website.

Would love to get on a Zoom call! Can you schedule something on my calendar? https://calendly.com/badassity/consultation

That “crap shoot” hook doesn’t sit right with me. Like you are telling me that what I do is crap. Why not just that sentence about the “show up and shoot” approach?

I love what you are offering.
I keep having problems w/ the opening line. I feel I can have confidence about showing up on social media, networking or on stage, and GET the contracts they dream about, and still have a lousy website.

I agree with Joel … is your offer to fix or update the website? then i think the first line isn’t just about social media /networking and being on stage – when I read that first line i think you’re going to help me be a better public speaker…

Hi Joel! Thank you very much for your awesome reply. To clarify, they are not making the wrong offers, they are offering things that are not on their websites because they haven’t updated the website in a while (they usually don’t know how to do it because the website was hand-coded a million years ago – before page builders!). Here is what I came up with in tonite’s session / would love some feedback before I post 😉
If you don’t address limiting beliefs now you’ll hate yourself later
Every now and then a belief gets into a conversation with a client, for example : “I feel I must be in the gift of myself”.
It may seem beautiful to you, to be in the gift of…Read More

I think I would be more direct in the hook. How about using the one that is on the handout (I think this was you?) “To People That Want to Feel Fulfilled But Don’t Know How to Get Started “

I apologize, I don’t understand the example, “I feel I must be in the gift of myself”. This sentence doesn’t make sense to me personally. Is there supposed to be a comma or some other grammatical marker in this sentence. In the alternative is there another example of a limiting belief you can use from a client or somewhere else.
-
I’ve been trying to translate “I feel I must be in the gift of myself” to french! IS this an expression? or are we talking about deservedness? worthiness?
-
Hi Daniela and Joel, you are right it does not sound right in english but I haven’t been able to find a better translation.
In French the expression is “etre dans le don de soi’.
Which basically is about giving everything, all you can and beyond, to others. Typically, that would be Mother Teresa 😉 I
t is also quite often a belief of people…Read More

Love this! So glad you dove into this since this was the feedback you had been given about “doing yoga already.” Also – I would like you to use the word teach instead of present. Do you know why?
